MARTIN LUTHER KING

Ten statues of what the Abbey calls, 20th-century Christian martyrs, were installed in the west front of Westminster Abbey. The stone figures now fill niches that have been vacant ever since the abbey's west front was completed in the late Middle Ages, more than 500 years ago.

Amongst the statue is one of Martin Luther King placed in a prominent place above the central door. Next to King is a statue of Oscar Romero, and Dietrich Bonhoeffe.

Martin Luther King.
Courtyard of Westminster Abbey. Unveiled 11 October 1996.
