FREDERICK KIMBER SALLAWAY

Frederick was born in London, but lived in Blackburn at the time he was called up in 1917, aged 29.
Sallaway was a devout Anglican and lay evangelist. His application for exemption was refused and he was sentenced to 2 years hard labour. After a period in Wormwood Scrubs in 1917 he was sent to Wakefield Work Centre, and only discharged in March 1920.
