WILLIAM CHARLES KING 1897 -

support

William King was one of the youngest Conscientious Objectors when faced with Conscription in 1916. He was granted "Exemption from Combatant Service Only", which he accepted. He worked with the 8th Eastern Company of the Non-Combatant Corps, a branch of the army set up for COs where they provided logistic support for the military. Little is known of William's story - his records are part of the "Burnt Documents" collection, military records almost totally destroyed by fire.
