CHERRY TREE
Now a mature tree around which meetings and ceremonies frequently take place. Cherry trees from seeds of trees in Hiroshima have been planted in many parts of the country in memory of the thousands killed by the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan.
On 6 August 1967, the anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb, a cherry tree was planted by the mayor of Camden in memory of the victims of Hiroshima. On each anniversary meetings are held to remember the victims of the two atomic bombs dropped on Japan.
