| Hubert was born on 23rd September 1893 in Scarborough, Yorks. He was the brother of Reginald Sidney Pollard. He studied at Manchester, and after the war became a qualified chemist under the Manchester Corporation.! During the First World War he served with the Friends Ambulance Unit from January 1915 to February 1919 in AT11 and AT5. He married Helen Grace Cartledge in 1952, and died on 1st March 1979.
