THE MEN WHO DIED

  Back

Below is a list on 122 conscienious objectors know to have died during or closely following their time while under the control of the Military Service Act. At present we do not know the casuse from which all these men died. Some died on the battlefield, some from negligence on the part of the authorities. Prison conditions were grim for all prisoners and many COs coming from non industrial or labouring backgrounds were physicaly disadvantaged to deal with the harsh prison regime. Some no doubt died from all the 'normal' causes.
